AmericaView Supports NSF Funded Spatial Literacy Workshop

Three AmericaView states, Ohio, Louisiana, and Idaho, collaborated with NSF to host an interactive spatial literacy workshop for undergraduate and graduate students, and members of the workforce. This has been a three-year project, with the first year (2022) hosted in Ohio at Bowling Green State University, the second year (2023) was hosted in Louisiana, at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and the third and final year (2024) was hosted in Idaho at Idaho State University. The theme of this year’s week-long workshop was remote sensing for geology and planetary exploration. Craters of the Moon National Monument served as a field site analog for the moon as students explored moon-like terrain on their field trip and used in-class exercises with remotely sensed data to select lunar landing sites. Other partners included USGS and NASA speakers.
